Peace Signs Pictures
There are many famous peace signs used worldwide and one of the most famous is olive branch. Its use can be dated back to as old as 5th century BCE. Another is dove. These symbols have been used in old times by early Christians but were put to official usage in 18th century. The credit for popularization is given to Pablo Picasso. Some of the other symbols that were used after war peace movement were peace flag and V hand signal.
Due to the reformation in world, the end of wars was followed by peace movements and hence came into existence various types of peace signs. Peace flag was used for the first time in 1961 peace march in Italy. Generally, this peace flag has 7 colors as seen in a rainbow. In the center of the flag is inscribed “Peace”. After a campaign of 2002, this flag became even more prominent and was used readily and more widely.
Next in the row is V sign. It is a hand gesture that has middle and index fingers open, palm outward and other fingers close. This was firstly used during WW-II to state the victory. After this, counterculture adopted this sign as peace symbol, when the Vietnam War of 1960 ended. Another type of peace sign used in Japan is fire. It depicts eternal flame of peace in Tosho-gu shrine. Many other peace symbols were put to use after various wars. But, it does not really matter what sign is used, what matters is the bottom-line; peace.
